Developing a nationwide campaign to get people to drink tap water instead of bottled water, I would first want to think about the tap water quality around the world and understand that not all places have clean tap water to drink. Conducting a needs assessment for places that are in need for water filter and meeting people where they are when it comes to clean water access. It would be important to provide education about tap water and ways individuals can work to improve their own water quality. As mentioned in the video, many people have been told that tap water is unsafe to drink and that bottled water is cleaner and safer. Debunking this myth and changing the social norms around bottled water would be the basis of my campaign.
Using the Health Belief Model to target self-efficacy toward carrying a reusable water bottle everywhere you go would be one of my main goals in promoting tap water. Another goal would be to bring awareness to the severity of bottle water usage and how it affects their overall health due to the amount of waste and chemical pollution it takes to make and dispose of bottled water. Lastly a cue to action that encourages individuals to use eco-friendly reusable water bottles and to drink from tap even if that means purchasing a tap water filter that can be easily placed over the kitchen sink faucet.
Campaign slogan:
Refillable. Reusable. Replenish-able

Aika,
ReplyDeleteI like your slogan because it is simple and to the point. I really am impressed by your use of a public health model in creating your campaign. To clarify, would this method be getting an individual to believe that they can make a difference by reusing the same eco-friendly bottle? A lot of change can be made with belief because most most people don't realize/believe their efforts can really make a difference.
Thanks Aubrey! I would want to change the belief that they can make a difference even if it means to use a eco-friendly water bottle. One step at a time can begin the process of change. You are right in the belief systems play an important role in changing a behavior and making a difference.
DeleteReally like the art! Did you make that yourself, it feels very creative and modern and like the call to action notion of your campaign.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelly. Yes, I made it myself on canva! I wanted it to be easy to understand and simple to take action. I feel most people think it takes huge amounts of work to make a difference, but it starts with one small step leading to a snowball affect. One would hope anyways.
